What to Expect During a Window Replacement Project

Most window replacement projects are completed same day so you’re able to enjoy the view as soon as possible.

Thinking about starting a window replacement project? You might also be thinking (and dreading) an overwhelming, messy experience that takes over your personal space. However, the window replacement process is painless and easy. This overview will give you an idea of what to expect--from the time you pick up the phone to finding yourself admiring your sparkling new Renewal by Andersen replacement windows

Step 1: Phone consultation

When you call us about a window replacement project, you'll likely talk to Beth, our sales assistant. She'll ask you about your existing windows and the type of replacements you're looking for. Then she’ll schedule a time for a sales consultant to come to your home and meet with you.

Step 2: Home consultation

A sales consultant will visit your home and evaluate your windows. You’ll learn about options for glass, styles, grills, and the near-boundless possibilities of finishes and hardware. After your consultation, your sales consultant will provide you with an estimate. This appointment usually takes between 1-1.5 hours.

Step 3: Technical measurements

Next, a window replacement expert will measure your existing windows so that replacements can be custom manufactured to fit your home. Only experienced craftsmen take technical measurements for your windows, as this is a crucial step to ensuring they fit perfectly. They’ll make sure the job is done right. It usually takes 2-3 weeks after your contract is to get complete measurements, but that timeframe can vary depending on the season.

Step 4: Preparing for installation

After your contract is signed, your installation will be scheduled within 8-10 weeks. Right before our installers arrive, we ask homeowners to remove window treatments, wall hangings, and anything else within about 4 feet of the windows being replaced. This helps prevent any damage to your home and belongings.

Step 5: Installation day

When the day arrives for your custom window replacement, it happens fast! Most projects of 8 or fewer windows can be completed in just one day – even in the winter. It takes less than 10 minutes to remove the old window and replace it with the new one, so you won’t have to worry about exposing your home to the elements for extended periods of time.

Step 6: Cleanup

The best part? Our experts thoroughly clean up any mess and leave your home exactly as they found it—except for your shiny new windows, of course! You won't have to do a thing except put your drapes or blinds back up, sit back, and enjoy the view.

We have over 40 years of experience making sure we exceed our customers' expectations. Our certified installers are experts in their field and we use only top quality products.
